Venue Selection for a Business: Criteria in Order
Seven criteria ranked by how many options each eliminates, with fees last.

| Rank | Criterion | Eliminates |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Will they onboard your entity, in your jurisdiction, with your structure | Most of the field |
| 2 | Can they settle to an account in the company’s registered name | Most consumer-oriented venues |
| 3 | Authorisation and client asset treatment | Unsupervised venues |
| 4 | Depth in the assets you trade | Venues too thin for your size |
| 5 | Exportable records that reconcile | Venues creating monthly work |
| 6 | Multi-user access controls | Venues unsuitable for company use |
| 7 | Fees | Rarely decisive between survivors |
Criterion 2 in detail
Many venues settle fiat only to an account matching a verified individual.
That makes them unusable for a company regardless of every other characteristic, and it is rarely stated on a website.
Criterion 3 in detail
Which authority, which permissions, verified on the register. Whether client assets are segregated and how that is evidenced. For the applied rather than the abstract version, a crypto currency exchange with published fees is the reference.
For a company holding an operating balance, the difference between segregated client assets and an unsecured claim is the difference between an inconvenience and a write-off.
Criterion 4 measurement
Sum resting liquidity within half a percent of mid, at the times you would trade.
If your typical order is a large fraction of it, you need a desk relationship or a different venue.
Criterion 5 test
Request a sample export covering a real month, not a demonstration file. Check it loads into your accounting system without manual editing. Payment infrastructure uses a parallel set, documented at a provider serving funds and family offices.
Criterion 6 requirements
Separate logins with distinct permissions. Withdrawal allowlist with a delay on additions. Approval separate from initiation. An audit log including failed attempts.
A venue where one login controls everything is unsuitable for a company balance of any size.
Procedure
Put criteria 1 to 6 in one email to five venues. Three will not answer specifically, which is informative.
Then, at the finalists: deposit a small amount, trade, withdraw to the company account, export the records.
That full cycle takes a week and reveals more than any comparison table.
Expectations
Onboarding of two days to six weeks. A slower first withdrawal. At least one unanticipated document request. None indicates a problem. One term worth establishing before it matters is whether the published coverage list exists as a reachable contact.
